This guide to the Holy Quran Exhibition in Medina centers on a hand-copied Quran so large it takes four men to lift, housed in a museum by the Prophet's Mosque. It traces the calligrapher's challenge of writing at that scale, and moves through halls documenting how copies of the Quran were checked, corrected, and bound by hand for centuries before printing existed. Along the way is a fragment of the Kaaba's black covering cloth, its gold thread still catching light in a display case.
