This guide to the Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology in Hangzhou traces an eleven-year design puzzle: how architects Gluckman and Tang tried to build a museum where no visitor would ever need a ramp or stair to move between galleries. Planning began in 2008 and the building didn't open until 2019, folding thirty-five hundred square meters of gallery space onto one level beneath stacked classrooms and a library.
