Temple of Poseidon

This guide to the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion opens with a name scratched into a column near the entrance: Byron. It traces the story of the young English lord who climbed this cliff in 1810, years before he was famous, and the long-running dispute over whether he really carved his own signature into the marble or whether an admirer did it later in his honor.
