Sukellusvene Vesikko

This guide to the submarine Vesikko in Helsinki traces her start as a secret in 1931, when workers at the Crichton-Vulcan yard in Turku laid her welded-steel hull for a Dutch engineering office that was really a front for Germany's banned submarine program. It follows her sale to Finland in 1934, her renaming, and her one confirmed kill on the third of July, 1941, torpedoing the Soviet ship Vyborg near Suursaari after one torpedo jammed.
