Sompasauna

This guide to Sompasauna on Helsinki's waterfront opens with a 2018 arson attack that burned the sauna down, and the volunteers who had it rebuilt within a day. It traces the place further back, to friends who found a discarded cast-iron stove abandoned in the woods and built walls from scavenged pallets and construction offcuts. The operation once had to relocate down the coast to its current spot on Mustikkamaa, where a lean-to now holds a piano someone hauled in by hand.
