Markthalle Neun

This guide to Markthalle Neun in Berlin follows one of the city's last surviving nineteenth-century market halls through a WWII bombing, the isolation of Cold War division, and a slow decline that had nearly emptied its stalls by the 1970s. It picks up again in 2009, when Berlin planned to sell the building for a shopping mall, and neighbors organized to argue the city's own accountants out of the sale.
