Hanau pavilion

This guide to the Hanau pavilion in Prague opens on 1 October 1891, when Prince William of Hanau waited outside his ironworks' showpiece to greet Emperor Francis Joseph the First at Prague's Jubilee Exhibition, a fair that drew nearly two and a half million visitors that year. It follows the prince's decision to give the building away, and the city's odd response: dismantling the whole cast-iron structure and rebuilding it, piece by piece, at the edge of Letna park in the dead of winter.
