Dancing House

This guide to the Dancing House in Prague starts in 1986, when architect Vlado Milunic sketched a building the state would never let him build, together with his neighbor, a dissident playwright under secret police surveillance. It follows the vacant riverside plot, bombed flat in 1945, and traces how the Velvet Revolution turned that neighbor into a president and let Milunic's old sketch move forward. It brings in the American architect Frank Gehry, brought on to give the project a bigger name, and the two towers they designed together, one leaning and solid, the other glass and in motion.
