Shenzhen Wenxin Park

This guide to Shenzhen Wenxin Park in Nanshan starts with the trees planted more than twenty years ago growing so successful that by 2020 they had turned the park into a conflict zone, with joggers, grandparents, children and tai chi circles all competing for the same shrinking paths. It follows the renovation that reopened the park in January 2022, and the decision the design team faced over what to do with nearly five hundred surviving trees.
