This guide to the OCT Contemporary Art Terminal in Shenzhen opens in 2003, when architects from URBANUS walked into an old furniture warehouse in the Eastern Industrial Zone and chose to preserve it rather than tear it down. It follows the mesh-wrapped facade that resulted, the museum's 2005 opening as OCAT under founding director Huang Zhuan, and the launch of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong architecture biennale that same year.
