深圳欢乐谷

This guide to 深圳欢乐谷 (Happy Valley Shenzhen) traces the era before it existed, when OCT Group's nearby Splendid China park let visitors photograph themselves beside miniature versions of the country's landmarks. It follows the shift in appetite that led to Happy Valley's opening on October first, 1998, in the Nanshan district, built around a new idea the founders called happy culture.
