This guide to the Yuz Museum in Shanghai traces livestock magnate and art collector Budi Tek's push to build China's first real public museum of contemporary art after a 2015 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. It follows the hangar's transformation by architect Sou Fujimoto from a Longhua Airport structure into a cavernous gallery of more than three thousand square meters, and Tek's partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to secure his collection's future. Tek died in Hong Kong in March 2022, at sixty five, surrounded by family.
