Duolun Lu Culture Street

This guide to Duolun Lu Culture Street in Shanghai opens on March 2, 1930, when a room of young writers on this lane founded the League of Left-Wing Writers, led by the already-celebrated Lu Xun. It follows one of the youngest members, novelist Rou Shi, whom Lu Xun had mentored and called one of the finest young minds in the country, through his arrest by British police in January 1931 alongside four fellow league members. Walk this pedestrian lane toward the League's memorial hall, a three story brick and wood house near its far end.
