Crown Cave Scenic Spot
3F22+RWV, Yanshan District, Guilin, Guangxi, 541009
Karst river cave toured by rail car, elevator, wooden boat and an electric sightseeing slide.
This guide to Crown Cave follows a joint Chinese-British caving team who pushed through a flooded passage in November 1985 and broke into a second cave system no map had shown, and reaches back to Xu Xiake, the Ming dynasty traveler who explored the cave by lantern in 1637 and wrote the first known description of it. It traces the cave's long unvisited centuries before it opened to tourists in 1995, and the rail cars, elevator, boats and slide later built through the rock. Hold on through the rail car and elevator drop before the boat ride across the underground river.
