Plaza Casa Lenin in Zurich centers on a rented room above a cobbler's workshop in the old town, where a bearded exile named Vladimir Ulyanov lived for fourteen months starting in February 1916, walking to the library each morning in shoes the cobbler had made him. The guide follows his wife Nadezhda Krupskaya's frantic packing in April 1917 and his departure from Zurich's main station days later, bound through wartime Germany toward revolutionary Russia. Few of the neighbors on this street ever guessed what the quiet lodger upstairs was planning.
