Quarry Rock

This guide to Quarry Rock above Deep Cove traces what happened when the pandemic sent so many hikers onto this narrow North Shore trail in March 2020 that the district shut it down entirely. It follows the storm that struck before officials could reopen it, tearing out bridges and staircases, and the years-long rebuild that kept one of the region's best-loved lookouts closed. Along the way it passes a Douglas fir below the summit that foresters believe has stood for some six hundred years.
