About this audio guide
This guide to the Toronto Zoo follows Er Shun and Da Mao, the giant pandas flown in from China in 2013 to begin a breeding program. You'll hear about the mix-up over Er Shun's sex discovered only months before the flight, a first breeding attempt that seemed to fail in 2014, and what changed the following year. Along the way, Da Mao became a minor celebrity in his own enclosure, filmed wrecking a snowman his keepers built for him.
