The Garrison Church

This guide to the Garrison Church in Sydney follows a bronze bell cast in Belgium in 1775, already decades old by the time redcoats marched here to worship after the church's foundation stone was laid in 1840. It traces the soldier's chapel this became, with boots echoing off sandstone quarried from this very hillside, and how sometime in the 1960s the bell fell silent and was tucked out of sight in a churchyard shed.
