Sydney Jewish Museum (Open for schools)

This guide to the Sydney Jewish Museum traces the building's two lives: dedicated in 1923 by Jewish-Australian general Sir John Monash as a memorial hall for New South Wales's Jewish soldiers, then transformed decades later by Holocaust survivor John Saunders and a group of fellow survivors into a museum built to outlast their memories. Along the way it points out the seven-branched menorah bolted onto the facade long before the museum existed. Look up at the facade along Darlinghurst Road before you step inside.
