About this audio guide
This guide to the XXXX Brewery in Milton, Brisbane traces the nineteen thirty-seven beer shortage that struck the city, when packing-room workers walked off the job over their hours and pay. You will hear about the union leader who led them into occupation, the eviction that followed, and the tent camp they built rather than go home. It follows the standoff between strikers and management as beer ran short across Brisbane, and the short sixpenny glass that gave the shortage its newspaper name.
