Museo Moderno

This guide to the Museo Moderno in Buenos Aires follows lawyer Rafael Squirru, who convinced the city to create a museum of modern art in 1956 before it had a building to put it in. It traces the four years he spent running a museum that existed mostly in his own head, from a construction site nicknamed the ghost museum to a floating exhibition that sailed to twenty cities aboard a ship called the Yapeyú. A newspaper reporter eventually asked him, point blank, where his museum actually was.
