This guide to The Green Planet Dubai follows Vancouver architects Brad McTavish and Clive Grout as they take on an unusual brief inside a City Walk glass cube: build a functioning rainforest, not a simulation, around a twenty-five-metre artificial tree engineered so real strangler figs could grow around its branches. It walks the spiral path down through problems nobody had solved before, from butterfly-safe airflow to specialist UV glazing, on the way to a flooded world at the base of the canopy.
